Aurel Dewarrat holds a Master degree in Global History from École normale supérieure (Ulm) and École nationale des Chartes in Paris. His Master thesis focused on the transnational trajectory of the writer and journalist Victor Tissot (1844-1917). His current research (PhD) analyzes the role of the pontifical diplomacy in the decolonization of the West French Africa and the Belgian Congo (1945-1960).
