Dr. Viktoriia Serhiienko

Research Fellow, GHI Warsaw

Viktoriia Serhiienko graduated from the department of History at Poltava National University. In 2014, she completed her PhD at the history department of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and defended a thesis titled ‘Formation and activity of the Orthodox Church brotherhoods of Left-Bank Ukraine (1864 – 1917)’. Her research focuses on the religious and social history of Central and Eastern Europe since the 19th century. Currently, she is starting a new research project on the Greek Catholic Church in the Stalinist period and aims to study the policy of the Holy See towards the USSR and other countries of the Warsaw Pact.
